This is our campsite in Silver City Sunday morning just
before we packed up and left.
We headed for Tucson to meet Blaine and Shelia on our way up
to the Grand Canyon. They are headed to Texas from California so we’re crossing
paths for the first time on this trip. We ended up staying at a KOA that Stacey
found for us and it was one of the fanciest places we’ve stayed at on this
trip, but it was still reasonably priced compared to places in the northeast.
It’s amazing how much less expensive things are in New Mexico and Arizona.
That carport looking thing is covered in solar panels. They
are huge and are everywhere in this park. This park also had a semi-heated pool
along with a hot tub, so the kids are in heaven again.
Blaine and Shelia arrived at the RV pretty late Sunday night
after visiting the Mt. Lemmon observatory, which they said was awesome. They are leaving for Texas today around lunchtime, so we
just hung out in the morning. Brady suggested that they use the workout room
and Blaine wanted to get in a run, so he and Brady ran on the treadmills. I
think Brady ran three or four miles.
The girls swam again while Shelia and I lounged by the pool.
On their way out of town, we stopped at In and Out.
They said that the drive up Mt. Lemmon was beautiful and
there were lots of places to stop, so we decided to do that this afternoon. It
turned out to be much more beautiful than I expected. There was also a
controlled burn going on near the top that we drove through, so there was some
smoke covering some of the mountain.
How awesome is all that? !!! I'm so glad we got to cross paths with you and the kids.
