Departure Day

Many of you know our story about our plans for traveling this year. As expected in life, I suppose, things change and we are no longer traveling the U.S. for this entire year. Instead, I will be taking shorter trips with Brady, Haley, and Adria. Stacey and Jacob will join us when they can and, hopefully, we can all take a long trip to Alaska next summer.
Our first trip will last about two months as we make our way up to Acadia National Park in Maine and then wind our way back to Texas. We left Sunday, August 28th excited, but with some tears. I have some pictures that I'll have to add later.

Why did Google tell me that it would take 4.5 hours to get here when it really took seven? Maybe it was the hour long stop at Dairy Queen or the 17 times I stopped to get gas. This is the first time I've pulled the RV (which the kids have nicknamed "HQ"), so that may also have something to do with it. We'll have to adjust our Google estimate with an HQ factor.

Our first destination is Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines which is just north of Tyler, TX. I didn't put a lot of thought into this, but I did think it was a good distance to attempt on our first day and it has a pool, which the kids obviously love. It's a pretty awesome place for kids. They have a jumpy pillow thingy, a pool, laser tag, outdoor movies at night, a sand volleyball court, etc.

Here is our campsite for the next two nights. There doesn't seem to be anyone else here...weird.
