We took yesterday off as coming into town three days in a row is exhausting, for the kids at least. I thought I was supposed to be the old one.
Today was museum day and the kids most wanted to go to the Natural History Museum and I wanted to go to the Air and Space Museum, so we did both. Here is a barrage of pictures.
Actual petrified wood.
The hope diamond. The kids were actually disappointed that it wasn't larger. It has a fascinating history.
We love the gems and minerals exhibits.
Gold!!!
Saw this walking to lunch and thought it was appropriate. The kids got a kick out of it.
It's hard to tell, but this Space Shuttle rocket engine is huge.
This was really fun and the kids would have spent an hour here at least. These screens displayed Google Earth and gave you a roller ball and joystick controls so you could zoom into anywhere in the world. Of course, everyone wants to zoom into their house which is more difficult than you would think as the street names were not displayed. We found it though.
They spent a lot of time in this kids "hands-on" area.
This was about 40 to 50 years ago, but really?
Several top-secret, Skunk Works stuff.
SpaceShipOne
The Hubble Telescope
The X-15 could attain Mach 6 and 100,000+ feet in altitude.
