Acadia National Park - Days 3 and 4

It was an early Sunday morning, but Jacob handled it like a champ. When I sat down in his bed to wake him up, he said, "I want to get up." Easy enough for me. We pretty much got dressed and headed out the door to the airport. He fell asleep in the car probably ten minutes before we arrived in typical kid fashion.

I don't have any pictures, but it went just as you'd expect. The Bar Harbor airport is tiny and probably only has five or six gates, so security was a breeze.

On my way home, I figured I'd need to get the other kids something to ease their pain. I didn't eat any, of course.
These Dunkin' Donuts are everywhere up here as well as these Tim Horton's places. I've never heard of a Tim Horton's, but on the interstate coming across New York, there was literally a sign for one at almost every exit. I asked a gas station attendant about them and he said they are a coffee shop that then expanded into serving sandwiches.

Honestly, the rest of Sunday was pretty boring. I'm catching up on "work", meaning this blog and my secondary applications and the kids did a double dose of school work today because they've done none this entire week. It finally really rained on us hard all morning, but since we're inside it's kind of nice. I've been telling them I'd take them to the pool, so we finally went down there about 6:30. It was 63 degrees outside and very windy, but they powered through anyway. Almost nothing will stand in their way from swimming. The misery was when they got out to dry off and walk to the truck.

Stacey and Jacob made it home without any problems and Jacob actually fell asleep in her lap from Detroit to Atlanta, which was nice. He's been great on the plane according to her and spends a lot of time looking out the window and asking questions.

I got to watch part of the Cowboys loss to the crappy Giants...they always seem to find a way to outplay their opponent and yet still lose. On the bright side, I think maybe Romo can retire now.

Monday was much of the same as we did more "work" all morning. We did manage to go the grocery store today and it was an awful experience. I can't really describe it, but I imagine it was like HEB must have been 30 years ago. It was 3:00 on a Monday afternoon and super crowded, both in the parking lot and in the store. The selection was not great and the checkout lines were literally seven or eight people deep. They were also weirdly positioned so that they extended across a major aisle, but if you backed up a bit so folks could squeeze through, a new person would come up and get in line in front of you. Step your game up, Hannaford Supermarkets.

Haley made potato soup tonight for dinner (with Mommy's help on the phone) and it turned out really good. We'll have to mix some vegetables into our meals one of these days, but potato soup and garlic bread aren't that bad, right?
We aren't scheduled to leave here until Thursday morning and we're hoping to use this time to catch up on school work and my applications. We may have to stay another day or two...we'll see. It is nice to not really have any schedule or any place to go, so we can really stay as long as we want. The only problem is the grey water tank is about full, so I'll have to unhook everything, put the slides in, and pull HQ over to the dump station. Not really a big deal, but probably an hour of work start to finish. We aren't even taking showers in this thing!
