Quechee Gorge

This may be the best camping spot I've ever been in. It is gorgeous, quiet, pretty isolated from neighbors, and just serene.
Stacey decided that she'd like to stay here for a full day to actually get a chance to enjoy it, rather than just drive every day until we get to Acadia. We hiked directly from the campground to the Quechee Gorge along a nice trail about half a mile long. There are birch trees along the way with bark that peels off like paper. Much of the ground is covered in ferns which is very different for us.
Along the way, Jacob assured us that if we are attacked by Rhinos, there's no need to worry.
At the end of the trail, you can choose to go left to the bottom of the gorge (which we did first) or you can hike uphill to the right for some lookout points including the main bridge through town that crosses the river. The weather was crisp and nice, perfect for a hike.
You can see that Jacob has his weapon/hiking stick (which is actually Haley's, but those rules don't apply to 2 year olds).
We found some picnic tables along one of the trails to eat lunch and found a critter interested in us. We think this is a chipmunk, but no one is quite sure.
We took a slightly different path back to HQ and it drizzled for a minute or so on us. I just realized that we've been incredibly lucky so far on our trip with the weather. It has yet to really rain on us anywhere.
We were going to just hang out for the rest of the day, but Stacey found a cool little farm (www.sugarbushfarm.com) that produces cheese and maple syrup and has samples! We sampled probably ten different cheeses and we all liked about four of them. The kids aren't really into onion or cayenne flavored cheese. There were also four types of syrup from light to dark and we all loved all four of them. We bought two types of cheese and a container of the darkest syrup. We plan to have pancakes with Maine blueberries with this syrup soon...can't wait!

While driving to the farm, we drove across this cool little bridge.

We also got to walk down to this little room where they had a prepared video to watch about their farm and then back up toward the parking lot there were horses, goats, chickens, and cows to check out. That was probably Jacob's favorite part.
For dinner, we had some awesome potato, onion, and butter dish that the girls enjoyed making and it was terrific. Brady really enjoyed making the fire.
We should get to Acadia National Park tomorrow if we get a good start in the morning.
